Art Exploration
Course Description:
Art Exploration is intended for students to explore multiple art areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and graphic design. The course content is intended to increase students’ personal expression, higher-level thinking skills, and craftsmanship. By the end of this course students will have gained a deeper understanding and interpretation of personal expression through art, the elements and principles of design, art history, and aesthetics, and applying such knowledge to their own creations. This course will prepare students for any of the other high school courses and provide a clearer understanding and appreciation for our visual world.
Rules & Expectations:
1. I will have required materials and be in my assigned seat when the bell rings.
2. I will respect people by treating them the way I would have them treat me.
3. I will respect the furnishings and art materials of the room by using only what I need and returning tools to their proper place.
4. I will stay on task during all work times!
5. I will leave headphones, cell phone, pop, food, and candy outside the art room.
6. I will only leave class when the room is clean and the teacher dismisses me.

For every major art project, you be given a self/teacher evaluation form that you must fill out and turn in with your project to receive full credit. The evaluation will consist of four areas that will include: Meeting the Requirements, Craftsmanship/Neatness, Creativity/Design, and Reflection.
Any assignment considered late will lose 10% of its point value each day until it is worth 50%. In some cases, an extension may be granted with prior approval of the instructor.
You will each create your own portfolio to store your work in progress. Your portfolios are to be stored in the designated drawer for you class. There is also a designated place labeled with your class name where you are to hand in your assignments. When I hand them back, you should look over your evaluation/grade. If there are questions about your grade, please see me.
When absent:
You are responsible for all material of the lesson that you missed. When you are absent, please check with your instructor or another student for assignments and other information that may have been covered the day you were gone.
