ALC ART
Course Description:
Art Exploration is intended for students to explore multiple art areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and graphic design. The course content is intended to increase students’ personal expression, higher-level thinking skills, and craftsmanship. By the end of this course students will have gained a deeper understanding and interpretation of personal expression through art, the elements and principles of design, art history, and aesthetics, and applying such knowledge to their own creations. This course will prepare students for any of the other high school courses and provide a clearer understanding and appreciation for our visual world.
Classroom Procedure:
To earn one quarter (1/4) credit you will:
· Work with me, in class, for 16-18 hours
· Satisfactorily complete all assignments
· Stay focused on your own work
· Ask appropriate questions
· Answer appropriate questions
As the reward for meeting the above expectations, each day you can/will earn 1.25 hours per class period.
Unless you:
· Are absent
· Are tarty
· Leave the room (bathroom, water, phone call)
· Distract me or others
· Do not clean up supplies used during class
For each of the above infractions, except absences, you will be penalized 15 minutes. You will not earn any hours if you are absent. Make up work and make up time are available on an individual basis.
I will keep track of hours earned each day. I will record:
· Hours available
· Deductions/ infractions
· Daily total
· Cumulative total
Once you successfully completed 16-18 hours, you may start working toward another quarter credit.
This plan will give you the control and responsibility. You can earn the credit(s) you want, at the pace you want.
· Because of the different materials being used in the art room, beverages and food items are not allowed in art. You may have a closed beverage on the floor during class.
